For some reason Im flying in to LED with *A (LH) connecting the day after with OW (Finnair).
I dont want to carry all my luggage for one, and wouldnt want to risk any customs problems either. How to avoid?
Check through? (2 seperate tickets). Recheck at airport at 2230 in the evening?

I'd say re-check. Or check on your 2nd flight in advance, and drop the bag off right after you get off the 1st one.

Just guessing but I think this won't work. Not sure how russian custom regulations play into this (luggage needs to be presented at point of entry - though this is just transit), but I'd think that LED is simply not set up for this.
AFAIK, LED has no 24h advance checkin like DME for example - most likely checkin for your AY flight will open only 2 hours before departure.

No chance for checking bags through. And as mentioned no check-in facilities late night. Opening only some time before departure. Also you first need to clear immigration, then pick up luggage, then customs. So even if you could re-check it would be after customs.
We had to drag our 80 kg downtown...:-(
Only transferdesk facilities if you travel with carry-on only (and I wouldnt really rely on that unmanned desk...)
