R is a restricted, discounted economy booking class. You will get 50% of points if posting to AY Plus, other programs might vary.

It is definitely upgradeable with AY Plus points or upgrade vouchers (all revenue classes are), though. Chances for a free upgrade are very slim, unless one of the flights is overbooked and you have at least AY Gold status or better.

last year i flew pretty much the same routing and i got :

My return flight from BKK to HEL in early April is already sold out :eek:

At least ExpertFlyer shows zero avail. in all classes on that flight (new config A330). So any op-ups from Eco for me (BA Silver, eqv. OW Sapphire) is out of the question I guess :rolleyes:

Yes, you did get 50% already last year, so earnings should be the same this year as well - even though the world has gotten a bit smaller in the mean time :)

The "R" in your statement is your booking class.

In case the OP hasn't noticed from other threads, this actually is no longer the case, R is now 25%, so he'll get half of the half he got last year.
