Budget - Renting in Ontario or Wisconsin? And how?

Need to rent a car at Sault St Marie (border town US-Canada) coming summer for over a month. Any advice is welcome, please read on.

The idea is to rent a car in YAM Ontario (Sault St Marie Airport) or CIU Wisconsin (Chippewa County Airport) or with Budget Rent-a-Car in Sault St Marie ON.

Compared to Europe the North American rental car market is rather different. Basic price for renting a car often is cheaper, taxes and airport pick-up are extra, and always there are high to very high costs of CDW and other insurances (Loss Damage Waiver, Personal Accident Insurance and any other Peace of Mind Insurance).

Remark that Europeans do not have any insurance for a rented car on their credit cards, nor Amex, nor Visa offers such a service that is common for US citizens.

Problem occurs when making a reservation at a US or CN website. Firstly in some cases it is not possible to include CDW insurance. You are referred to do this when collecting the car, which obviously is more expensive. European rent-a-car websites often include all necessary insurances and taxes but do not allow rent for more than 27 days. Secondly there is the problem of finding a valid BCD code to get some discount.

Would be interesting to read how others have tackled this issue.
