From The Toronto Star (http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/771880--cabinet-minister-throws-airport-tantrum?bn=1)"OTTAWA–Junior cabinet minister Helena Guergis has issued an apology for her rude behaviour at the Charlottetown airport, where she allegedly threw a tantrum and screamed obscenities at staff who asked her to take her boots off for security screening.....Guergis "slammed her boots into the bin" provided by security personnel and then, according to the account, said to one of the airport staff: "Happy f---ing birthday to me. I guess I'm stuck in this hellhole."

Employees "were appalled at this performance," he said of his talks with airport staff.

Wow, for once airport security was appalled by a passenger instead of the other way around!

Had she done that in the US, she would have earned a special invite to the TSA business lounge. :D

Only a matter of time until she assures the PEI Chamber of Commerce that "hellhole" reference was "taken out of context."

For once? Apparently it was because of her status in government, not that she's just another (idiot) passenger who thinks the rules dont apply to them. TSA endures those types every 30 minutes!

I guess she didn't want to call attention to that phrase but instead made warm reference to the locale:

"Guergis, who represents the Ontario riding of Simcoe-Grey, also stressed her fondness for P.E.I. "My father was born in Summerside and many of my relatives still live on the Island, which I love and visit almost every year ... To me, it is a very special place that demonstrates the best Canada has to offer. I wish to express my appreciation to all the hard-working people who make it so welcoming."
(The Canadian Press - ONLINE EDITION)
She gets my vote for sensitivity and consistency.

Hmm, yes and we have "to endure those TSA types" almost every time we fly.

Good on her.

It's a shame she apologized instead of introducing legislation to wipe CATSA and Transport Canada off the face of the planet. :(

Her party leader, the prime minister, has prorogued (shut down) parliament for several months, so she hasn't had a chance to do that. But things reopen this week. Send her a note and offer your support for a private member's bill. She'll get my support in the next election if she listens to you!

Do your MPs listen to people from other countries? Our elected representatives certainly don't. Heck, ours even ignore citizens who aren't in their voting districts. :(

Just tell her that your friend B1 will stage a rally in her support.
