Texas - DFW emergency contacts, e.g. "lost" family member
A cousin was to travel from Palm Springs CA, thru DFW on her way to Chicago. Inbound flight was AA 1806, outbound was to be 2352, but it was cancelled. She must be somewhere at DFW, but we can't locate her. Cell phone does not answer, but battery may be dead. Traveller's Aide is closed, their answering machine directed to paging number, but no luck. Her name is <redacted for privacy reasons>; she's a senior citizen with hardly any travel experience. Any ideas? Is there an airport police station at DFW?

Try some of these numbers. http://www.dfwairport.com/contact/index.php
at some point you'll need to decide if it's an emergency (does this person have all her medicines, etc). But I'd urge you not to over-react. DFW is a fairly friendly place.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
Best,
Tom

I am sure your cousin is fine, but I understand your concern. Have you spoken to anyone at AA? I've called AA a few times during unusual circumstances (once when my in-laws were stranded overnight during a blizzard at COS) and once I've explained the situation, the agents have been able to give me enough information to reassure me that all is well.

Try AA channels first. If you are actually worried after that and not simply concerned, DFW has a DPS - Department of Public Safety, combined police, fire, EMS. Call the Desk Sergeant at 972 574 4619, 972 574 5439, or 972 574 5576.
She finally has been in touch ... sat on tarmac at DFW for 5 hrs (!) out of contact & nobody was allowed to leave the plane. Apparently flight did leave (maybe under another number), but obviously arrived quite late to ORD, so she missed her ongoing connection to MI (Upper Peninsula). Thanx for the suggestion re phone contacts. OK to close thread. BTW, I thought that the FAA was doing something about those protracted tarmac delays.

I see a huge fine coming if that's accurate.

The rule establishing the three-hour tarmac delay limit will become effective April 29, 2010.

Yeah...or the flight could have just gotten canceled (especially if it were to return to the gate). I heard from someone today that once the snow started falling in DFW, close to 90% of the flights were canceled. That might be an exaggeration, but you get the picture.

This information is quite valuable for anyone in a similar situation at DFW and is not really AA specific - so now that the crisis is over, the name of the individual has been scrubbed and contact information left intact, and the thread will take a short trip to the South Forum.
Thank you all for your assistance and participation. /Moderator
