In an effort to call another hotels toll free number I accidently called Best Western. When I realized I was speaking to a Best Western agent I apologized and said I dialed the wrong number. The agent said something like "you dialed Best Western something something" (not sure what exactly). Again I said "I am sorry I dialed the wrong number." Then the agent said (I am paraphrasing but I am sure of what I heard.)
"We can identify you and if do this again will have the police come pick up." Stunned Pause then I said "WHAT?" Agent hung up.
I am in disbelief.

so when you checkout, ask for a transcript showing numbers dialed, and then share it with me.

My guess is that the operator had received one or more crank calls (claiming to be wrong numbers) just before she answered your call.
Some call center people are compensated according to calls completed, and stopping to report the previous crank calls have disrupted her calls completed score.
Again, this is strictly conjecture, and the phone agent's response was hardly professional, but I do know that the customer service agents at my company are sometimes bothered by repeated crank callers (usually kids).

Upon reflection and I have been reflecting on this for last few hours this occurred to me as well. However I think this was excessive. I just can't figure how my remarks could be taken as a prank. My understanding is that it is rude to just hang up someone when you realize you have the wrong number.
