Dear fellow FTers,
Me and a friend are currently staying at the Ramada Limited San Francisco (Lombard St.). Two nights ago our hotel room was broken into when we were out at some bars in the city, and two laptops as well as a DSLR camera + 3 lenses were stolen. Most of the hotels in this area are "Inns" in which the area where the rooms are located are generally accessible to anyone right from the street.
We had a patrol here filing a report and taking our statements, and when looking for the point of entry we realized that the windows - despite being fully closed and locked - are easily opened from the outside. All in all the security is very bad and I do not recommend anyone to ever stay at this establishment. On top of this, the reception has not been of much assistance at all. They told us to go to the police station in the Tenderloin District (despite it not being the closest one), and when we arrived there we were told that the police are required to send a patrol when a burglary has occurred. Also, I'm thinking the reception should have known about the fact that the room windows are an easy entry to each room despite being locked. Instead, the receptionist blamed us for "probably not having closed our window properly".
The only reason we stayed here was because of the 50% offer Ramada had at the end of January (posted in the Hotel Deals section)-- but never again!
We will file a huge complaint at Ramada.com as soon as we've checked out of this place.
