Travel Tools - TripIt for Blackberry released. Comprisons to Worldmate?

It looks like Tripit has released a Blackberry application, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out what it does differently than Worldmate Live. It seems to function the same - forward your confirmation emails to TripIt - and it seems to give you the same stuff in return. Is this just a copycat or is there actually anything new or unique about this service?

I'm a huge Worldmate Gold user. VERY curious to see if there really is a difference between the two programs???

I used Worldmate Live on the BB, and when I switched to an Android phone I switched to TripIt (no WML application for Android). I think TripIt imports more "notes"-type text, such as terms and condition, phone numbers, and web addressed, but other than that I see very little difference in functionality.

I, however, prefer WML for one reason: The TripIt itinerary on the website includes too much junk, such as weather, links for maps, and other clutter I don't won't. Perhaps there is a way to exclude all of this, but I can't easily find it.

I have been using TripIt for about a year now. I just got a BlackBerry Bold 2 on Monday of this week, and because there was no TripIt for the BlackBerry at that time (it was released the following day!), I signed up for WorldMate to try it out.

On the Web, WorldMate lists only basic info for my hotel getaway this weekend (hotel name & address, check-in date, confirmation number, etc.). TripIt displays pretty much all the info that the original confirmation contains, including the booking site, rate, number of guests (and their names), room types, cancellation policies, etc. I really appreciate the weather forecasts for each day of my trip and the other "junk" that TripIt includes. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

On the BlackBerry, WorldMate is definitely more polished than TripIt. Unlike TripIt, it does display the weather for my trip, and it allows edits. I suppose that TripIt's BlackBerry app will improve over time.

It's pretty easy to try them both out by forwarding confirmation emails to both. Right now, WorldMate's BlackBerry app is way better than TripIt's. But on the Web, I definitely prefer TripIt's overly detailed itineraries.

There are checkboxes at the top of the itinerary page where you can turn all of that off.

At the bottom of that page uncheck the box to auto-add maps and directions. Cleans up the itineraries quite nicely.

I've been using WM as a Gold member for almost a year... they've changed the WM website in such a way that i think it has gotten rid of some of the core functionality. It no longer pulls as much info on flights which is one of the reasons I enjoyed WM... it showed things like plane type and terminals when I initially entered the reservation on the website.

I'm going to review TripIt, I don't know if this is available automatically with them but if it is I'm potentially going to switch.

I also don't like how WM works on Win Mobile phones (my new employer uses Win Mobile phones vs my previous company's BB's... WM is pretty blah)... but maybe there is a learning curve I'm still working through.

Been using Worldmate for about a year. Tried out TripIt this week and i like it. First and foremost, for me it does a better job at importing itineraries. Worldmate often mistakes continental for BAMbritish airlines. Tripit imports it properly. It also seems to be quicker and contains all the info from the reservation. I am going to use both for a few weeks, however, i foresee myself making the switch to TripIt for good very soon.

Well then...I guess I gotta try it!
