Apparently this has been on the radio in London this morning. They have a discussion going about what other alternative services people would want. I am not listening to it, but I could see the conversation heading south very quickly.
One woman called to have a bra clasping service. I guess she realizes the unclasping service is already on offer at the hotel bar.
One guy wants a teeth brushing service. I can't really relate to that one. I don't really like it when the dentist probes my mouth and he is trained.

Well, didn't Prince Charles have a member of staff whose main job was to squeeze toothpaste onto the Prince's toothbrush EXACTLY like he wanted it???

Why doesn't the Holiday Inn just provide a couple of steel bottles filled with hot water so the guests can dump them on the sheets to warm them up before bed? I'm sure most people won't like the idea of someone else lying in their beds right before they head to sleep.

I did experience this once in LA. It was a hotel in Beverly Hills (I think it was Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive) I checked into our room and there was one of the hotel's male mexican worker tucked in bed watching the TV.
I went straight back to the reception. The receptionist reaction was , "I'm going to kill him"
We decided to go for dinner so they can find us another room. Upon returning to the hotel, we find ourselves checking into the same room as it was the only room left at the hotel. We later found a black hair under the covers.

Cold under the covers? Hire a ‘bed-warmer’
Holiday Inn offers trial run of service at 3 British hotels
LONDON - International hotel chain Holiday Inn is offering a trial human bed-warming service at three hotels in Britain this month.
If requested, a willing staff-member at two of the chain's London hotels and one in the northern English city of Manchester will dress in an all-in-one fleece sleeper suit before slipping between the sheets.

Beat me too it rndomtask. Isn't the purpose of bed-warming to let someone or something's heat escape into the bed? Why would they wear fleece--doesn't that defeat the purpose?

According to anecdotal evidence, services of human bed warmers, who DON'T wear jumpsuits (or anything else, for that matter) can sometimes be included as "extra blanket" on your hotel bill in some parts of the world. :)

I will try to remember next time when I order an extra blanket. Most Hilton hotels give you the opportunity to order extras in advance via a special website. "Extra blanket" is sometimes on the list, so is "extra pillow". Do you have any explanation for the latter, too? :D

There is so little chance somebody covered head to toe in a sleeper suit will warm up the bed at all in a free five minute session.
I'll give them credit, they could have not bought the amount of free publicity they are getting for this one.
Wonder if the "warmers" are all lined up on the staircase for you to choose the one to make your bed the hottest?

Most excellent thread in a while! ROTFL! :)
A hot water bottle should do the trick better than fully a dressed human. Also, men probably generate more heat than women but I would feel really strange of being in the room while another man warms up the bed for me. :td:

This service was mentioned in today's issue of the the International Herald Tribune:
"HUMAN BED-WARMERS BEGIN THEIR WORK AT 3 HOLIDAY INNS
Holiday Inn is offering a trial human bed-warming service at three hotels in Britain this month.
If requested, a willing staff member at two of the chain’s London hotels and one in the northern city of Manchester will dress in an all-in-one fleece sleeper suit before slipping between the sheets. The bed-warmer is equipped with a thermometer to measure the bed’s re- quired temperature of 20 degrees Celsi- us (68 Fahrenheit). Holiday Inn said the warmer would be fully dressed and leave the bed before the guest occupied it. It could not confirm if the warmer would shower first, but said hair would be covered. A spokeswoman could not explain why the beds were not being warmed by hot water bottles or electric blankets. (REUTERS)"
