Matt Stehling, E-Commerce Marketing Manager for YX, discusses social media:

It is unusual that there have been no tweets in a couple of days; they are always very responsive to everyday issues and concerns, as well as tweeting about new promotions and sales...at least on weekdays. Also, nothing new on FB in a couple of days.

Our groups has been in Denver for the past couple of days. So some downtime in the amount of tweets and messages is the result. I'm in Milwaukee now, but without a computer, the video card fried. :(

Isn't it nice to know that you are missed? :)

When are you leaving for your new home in Indianapolis?

When are you leaving for your new home in Indianapolis?

That's the Business Journal trying to make up a story based off other facts. The fact is that Executive management is moving to Indianapolis, that doesn't affect anyone in Milwaukee.

These are the people that would have to be in Indy http://rjet.com/leadership.html , except Sean, since he's leaving.

Did Rev BB have his meeting with the Denver Eco-Devo officials?

Eco-devo official: Frontier HQ move was ‘not on the table’ in Republic Airways talks
Denver Business Journal - by Ed Sealover and Cathy Proctor

Republic Airways Holdings’ decision to move the headquarters of Frontier Airlines out of Denver caught local government and economic development officials by surprise — despite long-running discussions between local leaders and the company about Denver’s role in the airline’s future.
In fact, Don Marostica, director of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade, said that Republic officials never put the issue of Frontier’s headquarters on the table when asking for incentives to keep maintenance jobs in town last year.

Indianapolis-based Republic acquire Denver-based Frontier Oct. 1 out of bankruptcy. It also acquired Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines, and since then has made moves to consolidate some Frontier’s and Midwest’s operations.

Earlier, Colorado and the city of Denver offered some $16.5 million in benefits and tax credits to keep Republic from moving a number of positions. But Republic ultimately decided to relocate about 200 maintenance jobs to Midwest’s home of Milwaukee and about 140 administrative positions to its headquarters in Indianapolis.

Thursday, Republic said for the first time that it would consolidate executive management of both Frontier and Midwest, as well as related positions, in its own headquarters city.

Had Colorado officials known they were bidding to save Frontier headquarters, that could have affected how they went after the jobs, they say. But Marostica said that relocation was never mentioned.

He said Thursday he planned to contact Republic CEO Bryan Bedford and talk to him about the situation, though Marostica wouldn’t comment directly when asked whether he felt Republic officials dealt dishonestly with area leaders.

“I want to have a meeting with Bryan [and I want to say to him: ‘Let’s get it all out on the table,’” Marostica said. “Because it was not on the table, we can insinuate a lot of things. But it was not on the table.”

“No, we didn’t expect the headquarters to be lost,” said Tom Clark, executive vice president of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. “We felt there would be a significant executive presence here.”

You didn't really expect them to keep the executive sparsed throughout the country did you? It's Denver's fault for not expecting this and including it as part of a deal to stay.

Anyway, back to the TOPIC. Just wanted to say thanks to Midwest Airlines for tweeting often as it is very convienient to stay up to date.

I recently heard that some YX staff at MKE were told that their positions are being moved to DEN; if they want to keep their jobs, a move to DEN is part of the package.

Is that true?

It really depends on what level the employee is and what their contract says. Most will be offered some sort of moving expense package.

Denver officials and the media can't have it both ways.

The week Republic announced its plans to acquire Frontier, the future of maintaining the headquarters in Denver was already in doubt.

In an article entitled "Frontier Airlines' future up in the air" the Denver Post had the following:

What is less clear is whether Frontier's headquarters will remain in Colorado.

"We have no preconceived notions about where anything will be performed," Bertolini said. "It's too early to say." http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_12702220

It wasn't too hard to predict that the executive functions would eventually be consolidated in a central location. This happens in mergers and acquisitions all the time.

For years, Denver gave Frontier the finger. Now, they shed crocodile tears over the loss of a headquarters that Republic itself stated could move nearly seven months ago.

Keep in mind that this goes both ways. When the heavy maintenance line moves to MKE, the F9 staff have the opportunity to relocate or will lose their jobs as well. Some will move, some won't.

Any idea what staff that would be?

They are hiring for CSR and ramp positions at MKE, so there's no reason any of those existing workers would be heading to DEN.

They are also hiring for reservations, mechanic, and mx support positions in Milwaukee, so nobody existing in those areas would likely be heading to DEN, either.

Inflight is also hiring in Milwaukee, and more pilots based here (rather than less) seems likely, too.

That leaves admin and HQ type jobs as possible "transfer to DEN" positions. However I would suspect there aren't all that many functions left on Howell Ave which would be candidates for Denver. Maybe a few?

My info was second-hand, from somebody not familiar with the industry. It sounded like it could be revenue management or something related.

Sorry, knope, but I'm just not sure.

That's okay...just wondering if you knew more and trying to guess what it might be if it is legit.

YX stepping up promoting social media. With complaints about extended wait time on phone calls, interaction via social media could help with prompt resolution of urgent customer issues.
