Does anyone have experience getting Qantas point credit for Thrifty rentals?

I would like to earn 700 Qantas frequent flyer points on my next cheap car rental in Las Vegas... however if there are restrictions that would disqualify me I'd rather go for a cheaper rental option.

Do you need to be Australian to receive Qantas points?

thanks,

I know they readilly offer it - I just don't personally collect QF points.

well with my Air France fiasco, I'm holding back a little with the thinking what's the point of seeking miles if you will never get them?

but i booked the car anyway, at $19 a day in Las Vegas its about a third of what everyone else charges for the same dates. (Hertz/Avis/Enterprise)

Check your rate weekly as they do drop as time closes in. Most folks book their vacations months in advance and forget about it. The rental car companies in LAS know this and take full advantage of it utilizing revenue management which can drop rates dramatically as the date of rental approaches.

Crediting LAS Budget rentals isnt easy. Go to last years DL Budget promo thread to find the instructions for how to do it. It is a BIG headache.

You do not have to be Australian to earn Qantas points. I direct my Thrifty rental to Qantas for the 700 point minimum which I use for for a Qantas Club membership. Between Hilton and Thrifty, I get enough to renew my yearly membership. It gives me access to all AA and most OneWorld lounges, and free drinks in AA lounges.

I have never heard of anyone having an issue with getting their QF points credited. Of course, I have never actually seen anyone try to get QF points credited, so... ;)

From the rental agency end, it all goes into the same spot that any other loyalty programs get put in (it's all automatic from the rental system side--just make sure your number is actually in their system; it doesn't always get transferred over from the reservation system if you entered it on the website), so QF should work just as well as UA, AA, DL, AS, et al.

Also, make sure the name on your rental contract is an exact match with the name on your frequent flyer account. Some airlines vigorously enforce that and will not credit if there's a mismatch.

I've stopped trying to get the front desk people to put my QF on when I pick up the car. They never seem to do it right, but sometimes they try to charge me a FF mileage fee, which only applies to US-based airlines. Instead, I keep my rental agreement and contact QF FF CS by email, sending a scanned copy of the closed contract. I've rarely had to wait longer than a few days to have my points credited.

Does Thrifty Australia credit points to any other frequent flyer program? Like British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, or Air France?
