I may be getting an internship in Costa Rica working in the US consulate this summer. What visa's will I need to get if I get this internship? Thank you in advance.

how long would your internship be for?

if its less than 3 months I would not even bother applying for (that is of course NOT what the 'law' says but the hassle of getting a work visa here is not for the faint of heart)

I am sure that the US consulate will guide you through whatever process you need to go through

If you're working with the government, you should be good for as long as they need you for. Otherwise, regular tourist visas are 90 days.

I used to work for Embassy in South America. You can arrive on visitors visa but then US Embassy will have to apply for your work permit and visa.
Your GSO should be able to handle this for you with no issues. They have process down pat - once they do so, you can get a drivers license, etc. to be allowed to live and WORK legally in Costa Rica.

if you need further help, send me a PM and I will gladly answer any questions for you.

Enjoy Costa Rica - it is a great place to visit and work!
