Noticed on CXholidays that they are guaranteeing business class seats (with economy food) with some of the packages. Are these going to be regional business class seats?

Any thoughts on whether it is "worth" redeeming 50k Asiamiles for a new business class seat on the non-peak-season 744 service? It's usually the regional business class seats for other destinations in Japan.

Off topic, any thoughts on how JL's business class seats on their 767s compare to CX's regional business class seats, if I decide to redeem an award.

I think those 330 gotta be regional J (which for me it is OK on my last summer J redemption, I stay awake all the way so not a big deal, being regional it gives me more shoulder room as well)

I will save the miles to do Japan in business class in peak season (that's what I did last summer), because

High Y fare
No Y redemption, only J most of time (for last year, Japan only, I think someone with redemption experience for Summer 2008 can contribute more here)

What I did was HKG oCTS oHND // NRT HKG, which the domestic you are put in Y and you can buy the J upgrade at 1000 Yen subject to availability (of course if you want to spend all the holiday at Hokkaido, the free domestic sector comes in handy to get around the long train ride)

From what I read from JAL site its basically the same seat.

Yes, i have tried this package. It is the CX A330 Regional Business class with econ service/food. it is kinda rip off. I'd rather u take CX580/581 with the new 74A business class

I think these are different op flights. the 330 service is a Charter Service with no J Class operating. Therefore that is why they are offering a J Class seat but the whole plane will only get Y service.

You can always take their proper J package which I think is priced as below @ CNY

Y package : from 10K
J package: from 15K

I am good enough for J seat Y service and spend the money @ Hokkaido :p

And strange: this year seems there's no J Seat Y Service promptly promoted, all seat are marketed as Y (so the MPC benefit should kicks in I guess, to ASR the J seat) OR they already sold out ?
