Hmmmm, SEA/PDX-STS-SAN on a Q400 vs. non-stop on a 737. I'd only do it if I needed the segments. Stopping in STS only adds an additional 75 miles one way. You'd be better off booking SEA-PDX-SAN or PDX-SEA-SAN for the extra 500 miles the short segment gives you.

Saw something on STS' wikipedia page indicating STS was seeking to expand service- this would be a nice addition to STS' service too...
Someday I'd like to travel STS-LAS (connecting two very fun parts of the West Coast )

I am supposed to travel to Las Vegas Jan 24-26th. Since I'm leaving on a Sunday, I thought I would look into flying out of STS and there is a good departure time for me but it appears there are no flights back to STS on Tuesday so it looks like I'm flying WN or VX.

Neither is the pdx-sts-pdx leg. That AC normally goes pdx-sts-las-sts-pdx. I sure thought that the PDX-STS-PDX was 7 days/wk but sure enough it shows not operating Tues/Weds.

That's what the schedule shows on Alaskaair.com. The real question is what is that a/c doing on tues/wed? Down time for a/c and crew? Another route? Not enough demand on those days?

Perhaps down time? But I thought QX had enough spares...

Looks like it's back to 7days/wk in March.
What I would really like to see is a STS-PHX routing. I dread the idea of trying to get to OAK or SFO to go see Mom and catch some winter sun....
Note the passenger load for SAN....

Flew STS-PDX-GEG yesterday, and I ended up arriving in PDX 37 min late. I made my connection to GEG by the skin of my teeth, only because it was a few minutes late leaving. What I don't get is how a relatively short flight can leave early and still arrive 37 min late, just due to a "headwind"? Seems more like a scheduling problem to me. Last summer, the flight was blocked for 125 minutes on san-sts, which was probably too padded, but now they've gone too far the other direction.
EDITED: 5/1/13
The schedule has been revised and what was IMHO a "mistake" has been fixed effective today, with the schedule back to how it was. So, please excuse my kvetching.

Flight 2468 from san-sts is now scheduled for just 90 minutes, gate-to-gate. I have flown this flight several times, and it normally takes 105-110 min gate-to-gate. This is without any delays. Even more amusing, LAX-STS, which is 109 miles shorter, is blocked for 94 minutes. So, how does it take 4 minutes less to travel 109 miles further? SAN isn't that much less congested than LAX....
Anyone know how to contact someone in scheduling? Thought about contacting customer care, but wasn't sure if they'd forward my email to the proper folks. Otherwise, they'll probably have a 0% on-time rating for this flight over the next two months, and the potential for missed connections.
The airport layout at SAN is more conducive to being in the air in just a couple of minutes. It seems at LAX that, especially with the move to T6, there's a lot more taxi time on the ground, as ATC seems to like to send aircraft heading north over to runway 24L (all the way around TBIT and past T3, T2, and T1).
That said, you claim personal experience with these ex-SAN flights being >90 minutes, which is hard to refute. Someone here who has attended a Gold Lunch where the scheduling folks were in attendance might have some contact info for someone in that department...
