:mad:Does anyone have experience with lost accident in the hotel room?
I stayed 10 days at the hotel, one of worldwide residences hotel chain in the France. On the last day, my bag with a laptop, digital camera, and many things was lost in the hotel room while I was out for dinner.
I request the hotel to reimburse my damages. And the hotel suggested me a third total price to me after such a long debation (over 10 times e-mail).
While their attitude is not changed, I am getting to be angry.
I have the police report and the confirmation letter from the hotel.
Are there good ways to get a proper reimbursement? Should I sue the hotel?
Do you have homeowners or renters insurance that might cover the loss? Were any of the items purchased with a credit card that offers theft protection?

I do not mean to offend. Do you know or understand English? You have a loss. You may have damages from your loss but your primary issue is a loss. Some times just proper wording can help with issues. Not that it will in your case because there is the "Inn Keeper" liability waiver notice somewhere.

What is the hotel's policy regarding lost or stolen items? Chance are, they haven't signifacantly changed before you checked in. It will help you understand what kind of recourse you have and what the hotel's liability is.

1. I have insurance and they will give me about USD300 for my lost belongings because I paid very little money for the insurance.
2. Fortunately, I didn't lost my purse including credit cards. I was out with the purse for dinner.
3. Hotel said their policies is not to reimburse customer's loss. Unbelievable.
Regarding this kind of accidents, hotel doens't have responsibility to reimburse customer's loss if they cannot give me back my bag?
My collegue has the similar experience the other hotel near my hotel.
At that time, that hotel reimbursed immediately. Is my case special?
How can I react to overcome this difficult situation?

You will find that almost all hotels clearly stipulate that there are limitations on valuables being stolen from guest rooms. Even the in room safe does not protect you in many cases. Local laws vary but your travel insurance is the best bet. If you were under insured it should be a lesson to get proper insurance and not to leave valuables in room unattended. Even with travel insurance read the small print!
I find it a bit strange that a colleague of yours at a nearby hotel had things stolen at the same time. Very strange indeed.
Cut your losses and move on.
