Sorry if this has been asked before but I am flying for the first time in years and have everything under the sun about tsa rules.
My question is make up? Is it allowed? What is allowed and what isn't?
Also what about jewerly? I don't have expensive jewerly but I don't want to check what I do have just for it to be lost or stolen... Any help will be great.
Thanks

Always carry your jewelry with you.
As far as makeup goes, any liquids or gels must be in containers sized 3 oz or less. If you want to be absolutely sure to keep it, have it in an "original" 3oz or less size container that is labeled as 3oz or less. If you're unable to have it in an original container, get one that was, at one time, "orginal" (pert plus bottle from the travel size section) and put it in that.
What does and doesn't get through is a daily game of "who is your TSO today?" Some think that lipstick and mascara aren't liquids, others think they are. Some won't question a chapstick in the purse, others will.
Good luck... it's always a gamble of what will and won't make it through.

Liquid makeup under 3 oz in original container is ok and put it in your zip lock bag with lotions, lipstick/gloss, and any other liquids. Take the zippie bag out of carryon and put in bin at security.
I always carry my jewelry with me in a small zipped pouch which I then zip into an inner pocket of carryon or purse. When I get called for secondary because of my insulin pump I make them wait for me until I get my personal belongings. Last guy wanted me to wait on other side where I could not see my stuff and I said NO! ;)

Technically, it's 3.4 oz or 100mls that's allowed in your carry-on liquids baggie. And there are reports since yesterday's incident that your liquids must be in their original containers. Rule changes are coming since yesterday, so read the latest news stories, which seem to be far more up-to-date than the TSA's website. Here's the TSA site anyway so you get a better idea on the baggie and what can and can't go: http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm
I've never had a problem with lipstick being in a bag apart from my liquids.

For several years many of us have been seeking non-liquid make up and face cleaning products. Since yesterday this is even more important as an issue for us.
For face cleaning I use one brand or another of face deep cleaning wipes. Currently my choice is from Boots, but there are plenty of choices.
I travel with very little jewelry and nothing of much value. Not worth the bother. I also hide it in my bag.
For liquid make up I use an Olay Definity product (I'm no spring chicken) that is under 3 ounces and looks a great deal like a compact. There have been many threads on this topic about traveling make up.

I always travel with Laura Geller make up. Her foundation is a baked powder and it is called Balance N Brighten. I LOVE IT! I have tried the Bare Escentuals also, but I find that it accentuates my pores. The LG version covers them nicely.
I have a link (http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.A81777.desc.Laura-Geller-Balance-N-Brighten-Baked-Powder-32oz--Brush) to it (no association other than being a QVC addict!!), but please delete it if it is not permitted to link. I would guess that there are also other places to buy this product.

Foundation, blush, lipstick go in my purse. What I have packed are my moisturizers and scrubs in those 99 cent plastic containers in my carry on. As of now in this post panty-bomber era, can I still do that?

Well you can bring your make up and some lipstick on your hand carry bag.And always put your jewelry in your hand carry for safetiness.

Good question. For some brands, once you add up the price of these products, you're looking at something more valuable than an ipod or a digital camera. If nothing else, they may get slipped into the pockets of some loose fitting trousers and go thru the WTMD with me.

I always carry Shiseido Stick Foundation. It is not a liquid or cream but wears like a beautiful cream foundation and the coverage can be adjusted depending upon the application. Shiseido really makes THE BEST FOUNDATION! Lipsticks and stick deodorant also do not count as liquid although a lipgloss will be considered liquid. I have to use various goops and potions for my hair so those things will be repackaged into smaller containers. I use all Shiseido skincare so thankfully they give me samples of all the items I use and they are really small and easily packable. I wear sunscreen everyday so I usually repackage it, but Neutragena and Skinceuticals comes in 3 oz bottles so that works although, sometimes to save space I buy sunscreen at the destination since it's easy to find. And just to save space, I don't carry a powder compact - I use Shiseido paper powder! It's tiny and then I have a tiny little mirror I use for touchups. BTW, I haven't checked luggage in 25 years and many trips are for multiple weeks.

I also wear an insulin pump as well as a continuous glucose monitor system (Medtronic-Minimed). Have you encountered any difficulty getting through security with your pump? I have to fly BNA-ATL-DXB next Friday and if I have to go to secondary screening I am really concerned about my "body armor!". I doubt that these TSOs with less than a high school education can possibly comprehend that my subcutaneous inserted devices are truly medical devices and not a bomb! Any advice on what to say?
I am fairly certain that I will not have to go through a WBI but I would recommend that those of us who wear insulin pumps and glucose sensors refuse as I have no assurance whatsoever that they won't ruin my pump and sensor. If you do not wear a sensor and your insurance will cover it, I highly recommend you try to get one. It has made life so much better for me.
Thanks in adavance for any recommendations. I am not a frequent traveler so I am not as savvy as a lot of people on this website are.
