Hi

We have booked reward flights to Belize for late Jan and need some advice about where to stay. Currently we are looking at a week on Turneffe island at the lodge there. My husband is a very keen diver (PADI instructor level) and I love snorkelling. Is this a good choice or would we be better on one of the other cayes? I should add I have a slight disability so am not incredibly mobile. Main aim of holiday is diving/snorkelling so any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

I loved Amergris Caye! Snorkling/diving is supposed to be amazing out there but I am not much of a swimmer. It is a good place I believe if your are not so mobile because everyone gets around on golf carts. I stayed at the Miramar Villas which I enjoyed. Caye Caulker is nice too but even more laid back and smaller.

I believe the one you're looking at is focused on fishing mainly, but is also a good spot for dive trips or snorkeling off the shore. Beaches are certainly far superior out there than on Ambergris. Here are reviews of some other luxury Belize hotels (http://www.luxurylatinamerica.com/lux_belize.html) in other locations. I think Cayo Espanto is probably the best resort in the country if you really want to splash out and have plenty of personal attention.

you've probably booked by now, but we stayed on Ambergris Caye at Mata Chica (totally relaxing!) and went diving with Belize Academy of Diving - they were great! I would highly recommend the property and this dive operator.
