On Thanksgiving Day at ATL I was going to walk from my arriving gate at Concourse A to my departing gate at Concourse E, but between C and D they shut the doors, so I popped in to the train. The electronic signboard flashes the next station in multiple languages. I waited for the Chinese, and finally, and literally: "The next station is Runway (跑道) D."

I'm sure people can "run" in any of the concourses to make it a runway, but I don't think planes can.

Anyway, I picked up a survey form, ignored the questions, and just told them about it.

The translation was probably either done by machine or a human being who was not provided the context and details of the phrase's use.
