Had a very good experience with the Hilton President in Kansas City. Very good service, nice rooms and near the KC live area. I highly recommend it as the top hotel in KC, yet one that is reasonable.

What area are you looking for? Airport, downtown, Plaza, or Kansas (e.g. Overland Park)? Or maybe near Arrowhead Stadium since the second to last Chiefs home game is this weekend? KC is actually a huge metro area, and it can be no fun driving what with winter weather, so you might want to stay close to your ultimate destination.

If you're staying by the Plaza, I'd vote for the InterContinental. I think it has better rooms than some of the other properties nearby, namely the Westin and Marriott.

OP? Are you still there? Maybe coming back to check out the responses to your request?

Sheraton Suites on the Plaza has some good rates right now, but yes, really need to know where you need to be, what you're looking for, and what's important to you.

I stayed at Hotel Phillips using Priceline several times and it's one of the few hotels I've been to where I'd pay full rate. It's downtown -- a very nicely restored old building.

I stayed at that Marriott in Downtown KC about 2 years ago. The hotel was actually alright but the neighborhood was pretty awful. Just a simple walk into a pharmacy around the block and it was like the Wild West with drunks and homeless looting the place like it was nothing.

There's definitely some problems around there.
