Hard to imagine a $249 rate at ANY hotel justifying inclusion in this forum, but they are providing A LOT of food credit here. If you enjoy eating at your resort hotel -- and you like this hotel -- I could see how this is a good deal.

You might call it eating your way to savings.

Quite true. :) But I do hate getting a great rate at a luxury hotel and then "not being able" (well, really choosing not to) buy anything at the property because the prices are too high.

Of course, a rate including breakfast is usually enough for me. Three meals a day is definitely pushing it!

Some recent reviews of this resort have suggested that it has gone downhill somewhat in recent times.

Not to mention that this historic property is the only existing hotel (a Waldorf Astoria Collection hotel) in the world with a Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced design, The Arizona Biltmore has been an Arizona landmark since its opening on Feb. 23, 1929 when it was crowned "The Jewel of the Desert." The resort was designed by Albert Chase McArthur, a Harvard graduate, who had studied under Frank Lloyd Wright from 1907 - 1909 in Chicago.

I stayed at the Biltmore last January at the end of the month. I was there to attend a meeting, my wife was there to get warm.

She was supposed to go back a day earlier than I was. Sitting in the sun, soaking it all in, there was a woman in bliss. I called the airline and paid the change fee for her and my teenage son to go back with me. Money well spent.

Is it worth $249? The grounds are lovely. The room was nice. But there are other properties I'd be willing to bet I can get for less that are as nice. Depends on how much you like hotel food. I can rent a car and drive to some nice spots to eat for less.

Michael
