I think they should get moving on this ASAP. It's something that both business and leisure passengers want, and it can generate revenue for the airline. These opportunities should be explored soon.

At an installation cost of about $100,000 per plane, I'm sure that the cost vs. benefits factor is being seriously evaluated.

My understanding is that Gogo pays for this to take a cut of the revenues from passengers who purchase it...

That is my understanding, too. If it were that expensive per plane, I don't know that AirTran would have shelled out nearly $14 million to outfit their fleet.

It would be great if they could get wifi and directv fleet wide (at least E70, E90 and Airbus). That would be a big draw for leisure and business travlers alike.

How will someone use a laptop on those planes in Y.... Once the person in front reclines the seat you want be able to use your laptop, and to sit there and use your blackberry or iphone for a long period of time will make you go blind... Wifi is only good in FC so you really don't have to worry about the person in front of you.

I've used my 17" laptop just fine in many other RJs. While it isn't the most comfortable thing I was still able to get work done. I would pay for Wifi on any plane.
