Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - LOT do not charge M&M awards on fuel surcharge !

I was just informed by M&M service centre that LOT Polish Airlines do not charge us for fuel surcharges anymore (unfortunatly I've booked two LH segments for my last award itenary to KUL- dreaded experience, brrr...).
Great move, I think.
I checked it and .. it's true . For example PRG-WAW-JFK ticekt will cost You c.a. 63 EUR, if you fly on PRG-ZRH-JFK they will charge You 304 EUR. Such a huge difference. Choice is obvious...
Thanks, LOT !

That's great news! ^^

But I wish the rest of M&M could follow suit - LOT's network is a little small, especially long-haul.

... and the hard product is probably not too exciting ('probably' because I've never tried them l/h).

Thanks for posting. This is especially interesting for Y awards IMHO.

Y is nothing special really but C is quite comparable with LH IMHO.

Don't they have overhead TVs even in C?

They give you some of these portable players as VOD-system (only in C of course).

Here I reveal my ignorance on the redemption side of the game:

if booked through M&M, with M&M miles, will LH YQ still be applied to an SAS or LOT operated sector?

For LOT operated flight no YQ applies when booking through M&M with M&M-miles. I would be very interested to find out if it is the same with SAS-operated flights also...

Does anyone know whether SAS still charges YQ on M&M award tickets? I read that they want to stop it, but not sure, wheter for all award tickets or just for EuroBonus awards.

I sent a mail to M&M and asked exactly the same question. SAS and YQ practicalities. I got a generic response lecturing me about YQ charges and how you can offset this by paying 15k miles within Europe.

For the record, LO is back to charging YQ on award tickets. Although their YQ is a lot smaller than that of LH or LX.
I would not be surprised if they were forced to re-start charging it by LH. Obviously, that situation was creating inconsistency within the M&M program and I am sure LH did not like that...

LOL, yes it is! But I guess most of us can make some sense out of it by reordering words. :D

Each airline's fuel surcharge is different according to country where they are flying from and the amount they charge themselves is different.

For example, yes while LH/LX have high fuel surcharges elsewhere, they do not charge any when they originate oneway or return from Brazil. Brazilian govt forbids fuel surcharges. But other airlines eg BA seem to justify charging it anyway! Most other airlines comply and do not charge any fuel surcharges!
