After flying out of PDX for at least once a week, for the past 24 years, I walked into The Boardroom and bought my first membership. Call me a travel geek or a mileage nerd, but I have never been inside before now. My question for you is..... what now????:)

Hopefully you connect a lot. The point of a membership like that is really lost when you fly direct. I used to have one with CO, but with AS, I just fly direct. Going to the Boardroom just means less time at home.

I utilize the BR both on the beginning (when its open ) and the end of my journeys as well...
So it can be valuable even if you are on a N/S flight
Or even on days you just want to 'chill' and have good soup! [One can access the BR if not traveling- great when dropping off/picking up pax]
Good time to sign up though... since rates go up Jan 1st...
What else do you want to know @ the BR?

Get a FT Tag so I can find you next time I fly out....Dec 13th......! I love it when connecting and if I use DL/NWA lounges. Mostly in MSP, although the AS BR is nicer IMO. I've never seen the one in LA though.

I use the BR at PDX every Thursday evening while I'm waiting for my flight home. It's a couple of hours of sanity in an otherwise insane existence. Similarly, I used the NW (partner) clubs at MSP every time I was connecting on my way home from MSN last year, which was every week for six months - the membership really came into its own on those weeks.
And to be honest, when I'm delayed, I'd rather be tucked away in the lounge (either AS or one of the partners) than out "there" fighting for a seat/ power socket/ standing room, especially in some airports that are really not much more than glorified train stations ...

Is it one of these phantom flights I hear about? Have to get past the TSA to get to the BR ...
Maybe a PM to interested parties if this isn't something AS wants blasted all over the 'net ...

this is not a secret... it is a well documented feature and benefit that comes with your membership. Its an arrangement with the TSA
http://www.shlick.net/~casey/brpass.jpg
Go to the MVP ticket agent, clearly indicate that you are a board room member and would like a pass to enter the board room. If you aren't too clear, they may think you are wanting to buy a day pass to enter, which is not permitted if you are not traveling.
With a board room pass and in person, you can get two other people through security. I also have heard you can invite people, but im not sure how that works.
You also do not even need a board room pass under certain conditions...but typically reserved for those who need assistance.

Correct ^
And in ANC... just present TSA with your BR card and a valid ID and say you are heading to the BR... no BP needed ^

Have fun getting "deflowered"... :p :D ^ Check out the SEA BR... awesome... totally awesome! If you make it to the SEA BR on Thursday afternoons, you might just hit one of the wonderful culinary events that are being held there and get a unique opportunity to have a wine poured for you by the very winemaster who designed it! :D

I never thought to add vodka* to the soup...what a GREAT idea (-:
Cheers!
*I usually walk up to the bar & ask for the Tabasco sauce to add to my soup, from now on, I'll be asking for the vodka as well. Man, you AS Ft'ers ROCK!

Dear Jammie,
The only part of this post that I found depressing is the thought of spending 24 years hanging out with the Gate Lice. OUCH!
At one time or another I have belonged to AA Admirals Club, NW World Club, AS Board Room, CO Presidents Club, Delta Crown Room, America West Club, US Airways Lounge, & a couple that I can't remember for the life of me.
I have a simple rule when it comes to airports...
Max time in club & minimal time at gate=peace, quiet, harmony. Enjoy the club. SEA is very nice. LAX has the best staff in my opinion.

Well ... ummmmm ... I mentioned vodka and soup as I was under the impression that the OP's home base of PDX doesn't have soup, and no (free) hard booze, just beer and wine!

Actually a shot of sherry in split pea soup or lobster bisque is yummy! I can't recall if the BR's stock sherry. I know they have Harveys at CO PCs but no soup!

Unfortunatley PDX-BOS leaves before AS is allowed to serve alcohol. There will be breakfast items such as bagels, english muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, scones, etc.
If you have time when you get in, the sky club is right next to the gate, Hang a left and go right past the children's play area and go up the stairs or catch an elevator. There is full bar and snacks.
When you get back to PDX the soup will already be gone just (I did the remaining bowl once) some misc snacks such as gold fish crackers, cheese and chips. Beer and wine will be available when you return.

The NW/DL SC has a full service bar and AS is just Beer and Wine?

Dear Jammie,

SEA is nice when it isn't mobbed. I kind of resent being forced to eat my soup in one of the downstairs cubicles because a bunch of people are parked upstairs watching some game on TV. I'd easily trade the current D concourse BR in SEA for two smaller ones in C and N.
LAX is by far my favorite. It's seldom crowded, even with all the VA folks using it lately. The fact that it's smaller and less busy means the service is more personal, which adds to the relaxing, and more exclusive atmosphere. Hopefully the new one in T6 will be as nice and won't get too overrun with DL folks.
