Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar - Barcelona and Majorca

I'll planning to spend a few days during first week in January 2010 in Barcelona then onto Majorca to visit my daughter--any tips on good hotels and things to do in Barcelona.

Strolling La Rambla could easily occupy a few days. Interesting sights all the way. Sagrada Familia is a can't miss.
