I am flying through DFW and will have a couple of hours to spare.
Instead of going to the AC, are there any restaurants with interesting or reasonable food?

Nothing to write home about, as you can see from the "offerings" in the link below:

If you would have sufficient time to eat and then re-clear security, there is always the Grand Met restaurant in the Grand Hyatt (Terminal D landside):

Have had decent meals at both Cool River and Reata Grill in Terminal D. Not as good as their original off-airport locations but good as far as airport food goes. The BBQ places in the airport are ok but there seems to be a big quality gap between on and off airport BBQ from the same restaurant.
Anything worth eating inside the airport is going to be located in Terminal D so just take the Skylink over there and walk around to see if anything grabs your attention.

Actually I liked the BBQ place I went to there. It isnt Lockhart, but for someone who missed Texas BBQ I have been very pleased by the BBQ place in the terminal.

I agree with Herb687 Terminal D is your best bet. Nothing outstanding there but as Herb says the RIATA grill and Cool River (note that both of these if I remember correctly are upstairs at least in part) are a notch above TJ Fridays which is about the only thing you will get other than food court type options at A, B, and C terminals (never been to E but I suspect it the same as A, B and C). D terminal also has an Irish Pub if you like that sort of thing. The BBQ places in most of the terminal is reasonable.
I often have to grab lunch at DFW and do not have time to go to D terminal. Typically I do one of two things: have a small sirloin with two sides of steamed broccolli at Fridays or I have a couple of Tacos at a place called Urban Tacos (A terminal I think) either shreded pork Mole or Carne asada tacos. Quite nice and resonabley priced for airport food.
