American Express Membership Rewards - Applying for personal AmEx plat w/ existing corp gold

I have an existing Corporate Gold card and am thinking of applying for a personal plat card. I've had the corporate card for about 16 months and it's in good standing. Rumor has it that there is a $100k minimum income for the plat card. I do not meet this requirement. Will being an existing card holder make it easy for me to get the additional card? I'd rather ask here than get a denied credit card app on my credit report.

Once upon a time $100,000 was a published requirement for the US-issued Platinum Card, but even then it was waived if the applicant held any other personal American Express card. There is no stated minimum income requirement today. However, for guidance the American Express Platinum International Dollar Card stipulates $65,000 minimum income. (I am not suggesting you should apply for the IDC version, merely using it as a benchmark.)
Any credit application generates an "inquiry" on your credit report. A denied application is indistinguishable from an approval.
If you do apply for the Platinum Card use a link which offers at least 25,000 Membership Rewards bonus points. See this thread to request a referral or search with Google or similar...

Hi,
I heard someone said they received 50,000 points on joining the Platinum program. Does anyone know if this is a recent promotion? If so, where could I find any additional details?
If you use Google or similar to search for "American Express Platinum 50,000" you will find offers from November, 2008. However, if you change to "American Express Platinum 25,000" you should find a current offer.
