Sacrificing a window seat in E, probably get a center seat in PE (AKL-SFO).
I'm on the standby wait list but I don't think I can back out. Too bad you can't put window seat as a contingency or reject the upgrade offer. Obviously would created lots of confusion and havoc though.

You can cancel an upgrade by calling NZ directly. You get the AP$ or comp. voucher refunded to you. Even if the upgrade request has already been granted you can still cancel and get a refund...although if there is no availability in your original booking class you will need to pay the fare difference, change fee and service fees I believe.

does anyone knows wether you can ''transfer'' an upgrade voucher to a different booking under the same name?
thanks

Probably. But it would involve cancelling the first upgrade request, getting the refunded complimentary voucher, then applying it to the new booking.

Thanks NZflyer. My flight isn't until Nov 25 and being only NZ *S I'd assume my upgrade hasn't cleared yet! I may give them a call to redeposit miles. What would you take, window in E or a probable middle seat in PE?

I would take a middle seat in PE. Mainly for the fact you get more leg room & better service.

I do need to burn some airpoints so I think I'll stick with it and cross fingers for a window or possibly an aisle.
Do the seats recline in PE on the 777 like they do on the 747? I remember being able to sleep much more comfortably because of this.
