Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Paid Businss Class Booking Codes: C Z D J

What is the top-down hierarchy of paid businss class booking codes on SQ?

I always thought it is was C/Z > D > J, where C/Z are full-fare booking codes, D is discount booking code, and J is deep-discount booking code.

The reason I ask is that I ticketed on SQ231 in D when this 00:30SIN-SYD segment was scheduled to be operated by the 77W with full-flat business class beds. Because SQ231 has now been re-scheduled to be operated by the 773 with new-regional-sloppy-flat seats, I prefer to fly on the earlier SQ221 20:40SIN-SYD which is operated by the 388 with the same full-flat business class beds as my originally confirmed 77W.

SQ has waitlisted me for SQ221 because there is no D booking code available. ITN shows SQ221 as C4 Z4 J4 D0, which contradicts my above assumption that D > J.

However, looking at ITN for SQ231 shows C4 Z4 J0 D4, which confirms my earlier assumption that D > J.

So, which is it? D > J or J > D.

Also, feel free to comment on ways to enhance likliehood on SQ clearing my SQ221 waitlist.

If I recall, D is the lowest class of booking / most heavily discounted for SQ.

Someone else should come along soon to provide you more certainty.

Okay. I think this is right. Z is full fare, no discount. C is discounted (or full fare where no Z fares are available). J is less expensive than C. Lastly, D is deep-discount as the previous poster has said. I recall my one-way fare on the A380 from SGN-SIN-LHR being booked in Z class in May last year, 2 months after the A380 deployed on the LHR route.

In Economy S is full fare, no discount, making it more expensive than Y which is different to most other airlines.

FWIW, D is also the bucket used for *A and SQ RTW tickets -- so, it's the restricted, discount inventory..................

Sorry to hijack - but are you "treated" any differently if you have a booking class of D? I booked through an agent and just got my tickets, it has D... not sure where the discount came from though! :)
Thanks,
Ben

Welcome to Flyer Talk Benjamin K :)

No there is no difference in onboard service, baggage allowance, etc by booking class.

On some frequent flyer programs (FFPs) there may be a difference in mileage earning.
In the event of irrops (irregular operations) fare class may be a factor in op-up (operational upgrade) or involuntary downgrades, however both these are rare and normally other factors are more important (ie FFP status).

Thanks so much, Kiwi Flyer!

It totally makes sense to me now how I was booking through an agent, and getting a slightly cheaper fare, yet they were somehow making money.

The company didn't bother telling me that the fair was discount. So, I saved $200 (it was still $9,100) and they've absorbed the rest of the discount!

Oh well... guess I won't book with them! :)

Cheers,
Ben
