Marriott Rewards - Using EEO with promotion rate first night

Over the phone I booked a hotel usuing an EEO. The reservationist quoted me the Hertz/Bonus Bucks promotion rate for the first night. Upon check in the agent said I was not eligible for the $100 bonus bucks since I was using the coupon for the second night. Is this usual.
Were you asking for 2 Bonus Bucks vouchers or did they deny you 1??
The $100 Bonus Bucks is once per stay, so you should most certainly get one.
I have heard of hotels resfusing to offer breakfast on the 2nd night, but I dont think they can deny you your Bonus Bucks as this is a once per stay benefit.
Maybe someone else can comment as well?

I am disappointed that these are ongoing issues: Someone indicated s/he likes to redeem EEO, gets a quote and the hotel don't honor his/her reservation.
As Hertz Fall Promotion (http://www.marriott.com/marriott.mi?page=hotel-and-car-deals) is a publicly listed room rate (excluding packages, sometimes without any rate alternative), I expect that this rate is eligible to redeem EEO.
On the contrary it's definitly a no-go to redeem both Bonus Bucks (earned at an earlier stay) and EEO.
To be save, Kate from Marriott Concierge Team should be kind enough to confirm as she did for Global Rate Break (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/11785561-post5.html).
I think the one posting is implying that they did not get the bonus certificates for a future stay since they are using EEO.
You should get all the benefits associated with the 1st night rate if you are booked at that rate. The second EEO night is just free, but it does not eliminate the specials associated with the first paid night.
Agreed, you can not apply bonus bucks to the stay with a free EEO night - but that is not the question the OP is asking.
I have used EEO a couple of times - once at the movie ticket rate and once at the $50 VISA gift card rate and I got both of those for the first night - and the second night was free.

This morning the front desk agent said she checked and it was ok and gave me my bonus buck and Hertz cert.

No free breakfast?:D
I am glad that you got it worked out.

... The second EEO night is just free, but it does not eliminate the specials associated with the first paid night.
As this offer is valid for the expense of a standard Marriott guest room and room-related taxes only and does not apply to food, beverage, service charges, other taxes or expenses, you may have a hard time to argue to a picky front desk associate if your paid reservation includes full breakfast and you are not prepeared to surrender it for the second free weekend night.
@ holocker:
Glad to hear that everything worked fine for you at the end.
However, with refence to this post (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marriott-rewards/956700-global-rate-break-considered-full-rate-eeo-bogo-purpose.html#post11785561) it would be a nice geasture if Kate from Marriott Concierge Team is kind enough to confirm.

The hotel, Marriott Tampa Westshore gives weekend breakfast coupons to Gold and Platinum Elites when the lounge is closed. First US Marriott I have stayed at in a long time that offers this benefit. Sunday night Helena in the lounge was wonderful, even offered to get my wife a special desert.

Glad you were able to get your certs. I got mine this weekend, booked the Hertz rate & used EEO (they gave me the $100 BB & Hertz cert at check-in). The mgr said he had never seen one of those certificates, but it was no problem. Yes, we also got free breakfast!
