Southwest Rapid Rewards - An idea: Double A-list credits?
Not that United is usually the airline you want to copy from, but from time to time, they offer "double elite qualifying miles" which help a flyer get to a status level faster. They don't double the redeemable miles earned, just the elite qualifying miles. The goal, of course, is to get people to fly more.
Is there any chance Southwest might do the same thing, where 1 flight earns one RR credit, but 2 A-list points?
If they want to do 2 RR credits and 2 A-list points, that's OK too! :D

Get to the head of the line that you're already at the head of faster?
Most A-listers are probably on a pace to requalify anyway. This isn't like the legacies where you need to come up with up to 125K miles to achieve your goals.
I'm much more concerned with my CO requal than with WN.

Due to the economy, I would think that there are some (besides me) that are not on pace to requalify. On UA's board, people that qualify this way are called 2P-lite, 1P-lite and 1K-lite. We could be called the "A minus" list.

As we are CO Plat-Lites. :D
WN already has A-List promos/challenges from time to time. My wife is in the A-minus category now.
The legacies don't do this type of promotion out of kindness and consideration for the customers -- they are desperate to get warm bodies paying something to get on their planes. Does WN share the same sense of urgency?

What was the promo that earned extra A-list points? Oh my god, I missed it? I did get one round trip on the October double RR promo but that only gave me point-per-flight A-list credit.
Or, is your wife an A- because she is your companion pass buddy?
Clearly the legacies don't do the promotion because they are nice guys. (I would never say that about the legacies!) While WN might not be as desperate to sell a seat, they also lost money, so something like the DALP (Double A List Points) might be a way to do it without having to give double RR credits.

Wife is A-List from a promo last spring when she was still flying paid fares. Companion pass buddies don't rate. :(

I'm in that marginal A-List group - it's a struggle for me to get 32 flights in 52 weeks. One RT every three weeks doesn't seem that difficult, but I travel to enough non-WN markets (RJ-level cities along with about 8 ORD-DCA/year) that it comes and goes.
I moved 4 WN flights this month to UA to finish off requalifying for Premier this year under their double-EQS promo. I'll probably give up A-List for a month this May as a result, but that's ok. But if WN ran a double-A-List promo for say 1/15-3/15, I'd probably consider picking up a quick weekend RT someplace to make up for it.

Do any of your trips involve connections where the fares are just the sums of the segment fares? Typically for just a few extra $ (e.g. $7 for MSP-ORD-STL round trip) you can book them as end-on-end itins on the same flights & double your credits.
yuck.
One vote here against double A-list credits.

Gosh, double A-list would have been great. I lost my A-list earlier this year after reduced intra-CA travel at end of 2008 and all of 2009. :( Not that double A-list would help me now, though.

No, I have virtually no connections coming out of MDW, as other than awards I use WN mostly for trips < 800 miles, and almost all of my work travel is north of I-40. The only place where I have connections is OKC.
I thought about stringing together a $25x3 day trip MR (ORD-DTW-SDF-ORD), but I figure that for $75 I can buy 7 segments worth of the $10 surcharge which will cover me until I re-qualify!
