I currently have three stays to go to become plat. I have a stay scheduled for this upcoming wednesday. With the double stay promo-that should get me to 24 stays, and thus one left to hit platinum. Two weeks from today i have a stay at the PH in las vegas and no stays lined up in between, and am pretty busy so not looking to do a matress run, but from what i've heard-being plat at PH is extremely helpful and you get nice upgrades. Is there any chance they comp me to plat before my stay?

No, they will not. Go do a cheap stay at a nearby hotel if you want plat. Also, keep in mind it can take 7 days to post (although you can usually call right after our 25th stay and get it added to your next rez)

I've stayed at PH several times this year and would most definitely not pay any extra money (e.g. otherwise unneeded stay to get status) for the upgrades I've received. They've been pretty minimal.

Agree on no herculean effort to get upgrade at PH. While the upgraded rooms are big, they're pretty tired.

PH is a pretty basic hotel even in the suites and as long as yuou get plat by years end you should be happy

I guess they might, but if I wanted to be sure to make PLT I'd make another stay.

Also keep in mind that, since your PH res was already made while you were still "just" gold, it'll probably take extra effort to get them to recognize any new plat status upon arrival. Even then, no guarantees.
FWIW, I was Gold when I stayed there but made my res while still Preferred Plus. I called the hotel and SPG and was assured that my new status was noted. Upon arrival, they clearly had no record of my current status. (I asked and they guessed, "preferred business"...sorry, you'll be leaving with just a copy of the home game.) Anyway, it seems they try to upgrade golds to Vista rooms (a bit larger, with tub, overlooking Bellagio fountains) when possible. Don't know how much better the Plat upgrade is or if it is worth the effort/cost, especialy if they don't update their plat list before your arrival... Very happy with my Vista room, especially for the amount of time spent in the room.

I have stayed at PH a number of times over the past 3 years - all as PLT - and have ALWAYS been upgraded to what they call a "strip suite". Fairly large room with a sitting area and a huge bathroom with a jaccuzi tub. Depending on the wing, usually have an excellent view of the water show at the bellagio from the room.
