Can't find when my Diamond expires. Where is it on the site??

If you qualified last year, it's good to the end of the year (2009, though they give you a couple months after that).

If you requalified this year, it's good till December 31 of 2010, plus the grace period at the end.

They moved everybody back to calendar year for qualifications and expirations.

Basically there are two possiblities and only two... March 31, 2010 and March 31, 2011 (with the exception of those very long time members who got mutiple years of status) ... end of story.

This may well be true, but it doesn't really answer the OP's question. I believe currently there is nowhere on the site that indicates when your status expires. Given the info above, your only option is to look on the site to see how many stays/nights/base points you have and determine when you will lose your status yourself. It would be nice if HH could add this like virtually every other loyalty brand site.

They actually had it, and removed it because it was too confusing for most people.

Really it's not that hard. When you log in it tells you your current stays and the rest on the left. You don't have to click on anything, nights and stays are right there for the current year.

If you have enough nights or stays for diamond, then you will be diamond for the rest of this year, all of next year, and the first couple months of the year after.

If you do not have enough nights or stays for diamond on the left then your status expires a couple months into next year.

Yes it would be nice if they told you someplace, yes it would be nice if the cards had the right dates on them, but really it's not that hard to figure out without clicking anything.

While this is true for those that earn their status through stays/nights/base points, I'm one of the undeserving that earns HH Gold through credit card spend. Although I crossed the $20,000 threshold a couple weeks ago, I have no idea if Amex reported my current spend and thus extended my status. This wouldn't be a problem if Hhonors showed when status expires.

I have 2 stays this year, but over $40k AMEX spend. So I take it the site does not provide status expiration date ...

Possible an accurate statement when they had the rolling tier, but how can March 31, 20xx possibly be confusing to people?

This is a ridiculously simple and tremendously useful item for them to add (back).

I have a similar Q:

I got Gold through the HH Racing fast track this year (4 stays within 4 months). I will not fulfill the "normal" requirements for Gold in 2009.

Exp. 31 MAR 2010 or 31 MAR 2011 ?

It depends on when you finished the fast track. If March or later, exp is Mar 2011. If Jan or Feb, I believe it is 2010.

If you qualify through Amex spending, your Diamond status will expire March, 2011.

Andrea, the HH Rep, said before if you qualifed before March, exp is March 2010. If you qualified after March, then it is March 2011.

+1, but remember the fun times with the RT?

Not on the website, but it will be THROUGH March 31 of the 2nd year you qualify (eg qualify in 2009, valid through 3/31/11).

I dont think that is totally correct
a lot of us who have been Diamond for a long time do have status till 2011 or 2012
I think it is.
I just called about mine and was told
march 2012. I only have 31000 status miles and 17 stays and 31 nights at the moment.

This is also being discussed in the following thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilton-hhonors/931581-hilton-hhonors-surpass-sm-card-american-express-55.html

Please see post 821 for links that show that status is on a calendar year basis.

Bottom line is that everything on the HHonors web site talks about a CALENDAR year. Nothing about status being valid through March.

It has always been saying calendar year, but they don't sweep the downgrades through until March.

Status, currently, if from the date you earn it, through the end of that year, all of the next year, and a few months of the year after that.

If you earned status in 2009, it will be good through December 31, 2010 according to all the published rules, but they have always extended that for the first few months of the following year (2011).

I don't see how it's remotely possible for anybody to have status through to 2012 right now, no matter what the phone reps tell them. You would have to earn status in 2010 for it to extend that far.

Status qualification is based on calender year however the status PERIOD ends on March 31. Just like SPG or AAs for example ends on Feb 28 each year (except leap years)

This was as it was for the 14+ years since I had been a HH member before the Rolling tier experiment was put in place.

Its impossible to have status until 2012 unless you were the select few of 20+ year Diamond members who were granted extended status periods.

:D

I had a good laugh over your citing yourself as an authority on this subject.

HHonors status (normally) expires at the end of March, as others have stated.

BTW, many other hotel and airline loyalty programs that involve calendar-year qualification also work in a similar way. If you qualify sometime in 2009 for 2010 status, it actually doesn't expire till early 2011 (NOT at the end of December 2010!). For example, UA would give you till the end of January 2011 (it used to be end February, but they've cut it back). SPG would give you till the end of February 2011. And so on. This is something so common, it's worth being aware of.

HHonors members receive cards showing our status ("tier") and the "tier expiration" date. Unfortunately, it can take HHonors several weeks to issue a new card once one's status has changed, so I agree that it would be useful to show the tier expiration date on the website as well.

Very true, DL/NW have status go through end of Feb the second year status is earned (eg if you earn status in 2009, you will be that elite til end of Feb 2011 unless you qualify for a higher tier).

Well despite the response it does not match the stated terms of the program.

If I were you I would request they send me a new Diamond card.
Then and only then would I consider the answer provided by HH as being correct.
(its not as if we havent seen incorrect e-mail communication from the Diamond desk before:))

So you believe that if in the next two years, three months, and 20 days, that you never ever walk into a Hilton you will still be a Hilton Diamond? And that makes sense to you?

It's totally possible that's what their records are indicating, I made diamond the first time through a error on their part along with a few dozen other people, but when they realize they once again have some software glitch doing it (as there is no way anybody could have a Diamond expiration date other then March 31 of 2010 or March 31 of 2011 right now), and they sweep those all to correct them, they will fix the date.

From the terms:

Once the Member has reached a certain VIP tier, the Member may keep such status for the calendar year in which the VIP tier was earned and the subsequent calendar year.

and

Members must re-qualify for VIP status each year.
