Hi everyone...

Sorry for what may be a stupid question, but I can't find the specific information I seek via search.

My first flight on a 747-400 is coming next Friday on CX879, SFO-HKG. (not only my first flight on a 747, but my first flight on CX) Once in HKG, I'm on CX715 to SIN 50 mins later. I'm upstairs in seat 90A for the 744 flight, and in 14H on the 777 to SIN.

A few questions:
1) When I land in HKG, do I need to clear immigration to get to my next flight?
2) Is 50 mins enough time to change planes in HKG? Never been before so I don't know.
3) Is there a listing of the IFE anywhere that I can review what's goign to be on? I may decide to download a movie for my laptop instead.
4) Is there a dine anytime option on this flight?
5) Do they hand out the bose headphones to everyone?
6) What does anybody suggest to maximize my flying enjoyability on my first 747 flight?

Thanks in advance!

1) No. Locate the nearest Transfer Point on the Arrival floor and from there go to Departure floor after passing through Security (they just check boarding pass; no security "theater" here).

2) Yes (unless because of delay you miss your connection in which case CX will automatically put you on the next flight. [Editorial Comment] CX handles this kind of situations professionally. US carriers can learn a thing or two. [/Editorial Comment]

3) Yes. Link. (http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INTL/whatonboard/entertainment)

4) Not in J class. [Although, if you must dine on your schedule, depending on load factor, you might be able to work out a mutually agreeable arrangement with the FAs.]

5) No. Built-in no-brand crappy noise-canceling headphone.

about an hour prior to landing, the airshow channel on your PTV will show a list of CX/KA/Oneworld flights the passengers on board have connections for. it will tell you which gate your next flight is at and the nearest transfer point.

their noise-cancelling headphones used by CX in J / F are not that impressive (a relic carried over from the old long haul product). if you have your own headphones, you can always disconnect CX's ones (just follow the cable and you can find the audio jack) and plug in your own using a travel adapter.

a pic of the adapter you need is in this photo, they should be available in any radio shack for a couple of bucks : http://tinyurl.com/yjtkm2n

Good stuff marcuslai. Thanks a bunch. A short trip to radio shack is in my future today!

Not always true. My connection wasn't shown on the airshow for my recent trip to AKL via HKG. When I asked about this I was told they [the cabin crew] didn't know that therewas a connecting passenger going to AKL.

Were your bags tagged as interline?

Bags were tagged from LHR to AKL via HKG. Never had to pick them up and recheck them. They still made it to AKL with me though.
