So, for the third time this year, I have caught HERTZ applying erroneous charges to my rental. Each time, I caught the error as I was entering the info into my expense account.
Twice I've caught them charging me for fuel even though I returned the vehicle with a full tank and once i was charged for a GPS unit that I did not order.
The first two times, the charges were removed after I emailed customer service and they looked everything up.
NOT ANYMORE
Today I was informed by Cindy Dean that it is my responsibility to review the bill when I drop off the car and therefore, the $22 fuel charge will not be removed. I must admit, it does makes sense to always review your bill but, I also know that a whole lot of us dropping off the car between 5 and 6am have a lot more on our sleepy minds than to go over a receipt thats printed in size 6 font with a fine-toothed comb.
For the record, I informed Hertz that I have the receipt for the $9.50 in gas that I put in the vehicle less than 15 minutes prior, I rent a car approximately 50 times each year and I dont have the time nor interest in trying to scam Hertz out of the fuel charge.
The fact that I caught it 3 times this year alone makes me wonder if anyone at Hertz has an incentive to get customers to pay for those extras.
I'm insulted and plan to see how some of the other companies treat their customers.
Obviously Hertz would rather screw me out of $22 than keep me renting from them 50 times each year.
