MilesBuzz! - 100K Delta credit card offer (maybe - please advise)

One of my readers sent me this offer from American Express (http://www201.americanexpress.com/sbsapp/FMACServlet?request_type=alternateChannels&lpid=285): 50,000 Delta Airlines miles for first purchase, and another 50,000 miles for $10,000 spend in first 6 months.

My two main concerns:
Is this offer legit? It seems way too generous, except that it might be simply keeping up with the British Air offer.
Terms and conditions say "Offer is nontransferable and applies only to the bearer." My reader has not yet responded to my question about where he got this offer.

I thought I would inquire here before posting this on my website. Thanks for any information you might have on this.

interesting
looks like Delta is matching.
However when you click on the link you see the old 20k....
maybe they will change it... who knows... : )

when i clicked on the link on the amex site it changed from 100k to 25k, so maybe targeted?

This actually popped up a few months ago and did turn out to be targetted. It's on the DL forum somewhere (Sorry, I'm heading out for the weekend and don't have time to look it up.).

Yes this is old. I can't recall which forum it was on but you can see a bunch of different offers by messing with the numbers in the link itself. However most didn't work once you clicked to apply.

Edit: Here is the link to that thread

Sigh. It appears from the discussion on that thread that no one has received the 100K, though it may be too early, as the thread was started Aug 6. It does appear that you would have to argue with AMEX to get the full miles, and that you may not win the argument. There is risk to accepting the 100K offer: You might get 20K, when you could get a safer 35K from an offer on my website (Credit Cards > Free Cards page).

Yep, this is an old offer from around July. I wouldn't expect the link to change when you go to fill out the application as it has been like that for several months now.

My last miles from this offer actually just posted yesterday. 200,000 total miles from 2 cards.

Well, 220,000 if you count the $10,000 spend on each card :)

If this is legit, how come everyone is not all over this one, just like they are with the 100K British Airways - Chase deal? What am I missing? Is there a serious catch? Or are people simply not that interested in Delta miles? Experts, please enlighten me.

I personally would prefer this because MSP is my home airport.

Welcome to FT. Please take a peek upthread, particularly at the link. It's either targeted or an error.

There is a long thread on this on FT already.
There are a whole bunch of offers.

If you go to the website and then change the last number, the offer changes.
This targeted offer is over and Amex will not honor this even if you apply via this link.
