I was due to fly ZRH to EDI on the 24/1/10 an dnow I hav ebeen told the flight is cancelled and I've been changed to the following day, meaning I have to pay for a hotel in ZRH and take an extra days holiday! Do I have any recourse with BMI?

Phone them back and tell them it's not acceptable and ask for a reroute on your original day of travel.

I am sure that the experts will be along in a moment ;)

I've just phoned them and they said they called me to inform em of the change and I was happy with it. When they spoke to me previously I was driving and couldnt hear them properly. I asked if the flight was the same day, and he told me it was so I said fine. They are away to check the call recording. Dunno what difference that makes!

Oh dear. Sounds like you've inadvertently 'agreed' to go the following day.

I had the EDI-ZRH flight cancelled once and, after some persuasion, they offered to reroute me via FRA. A bit more pushing (the FRA connections either left too early or arrived to late for my other plans) and I managed to get NCL-DUS-ZRH.

But I do remember making a point of saying 'can you put that reservation on hold while I think about it', and when I did finally commit to the DUS flight I was told there could be no more changes.

Where you told this too? If not, I think you have a good argument for getting the reroute you want.

Nope wasnt told any of that, in fact I was told that the flight was on the same day, just changed by a few minutes! I'll check what re-routes are possible. Thanks

Funny how they press on when they get you on a bad line, yet when it's the other way round, all you get is <click>

I'd also wait til much closer to the departure day. This way lower fare buckets will be used up and they'll be forced to book you in a higher miles earning class. At least that's my experience.

Well as its a flight originating from the EU you have can start throwing EC regulation 261/2004 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulation_261/2004. This happened to me 2 years back, and eventually after bouncing amongst various representatives they upgraded me a class on another *A flight on the same day.

However, I have had the same issue with SAA and they pushed back (I eventually got 1x Free class upgrade and 25% off any flight within the next 12 months)

There's nothing direct on the 24th, about the closest to your departure time is:

British Airways ZRH to EDI via LHR
Sun, Jan 24
2:50p-6:40p
4h 50m

This is part of an awards flight. I'm waiting to hear back from them as to what route they can do for me.
