AS's computer sent me an email today telling me that my late-December SEA-LAX flight had been rebooked from the 3 PM departure to a 5:30 flight. We apologize for any inconvenience.

It didn't totally shock me to find that the 3 PM flight was still on offer, so I called res and asked to be put back on it. A bit of hemming and hawing, but the human was *much* nicer than the computer. She probably had to get someone's permission, since she went away for several minutes.

When I looked for seats, I noticed that the flight was pretty full - a dozen or so seats left. The 5:30 flight was wide open.

I'd have to guess it's an example of aggressive revenue management. Or maybe the computers are revolting. Not nice, Alaska. If you did that on purpose, we've gotta keep an eye on you.

Was it the same flight number?

Was it the same flight number?Of course not. How could the regularly-scheduled 15:00 flight and the regularly-scheduled 17:30 flight have the same number on the same day? If nothing else, ATC would have a kitten.

Meant was the 15:00 flight the same flight number (the one you were removed from and subsequently reinstated on)... if they changed the flight number, they may have pulled you off it (Had this happen before)...

wouldnt be the first time that times have changed around for a flight or flight numbers being changed. Or in some cases like capacity reduction, a flight eliminated completey albeit that aint the reason in your case
