Hi Irabk's granddaughter,

Looking for a quick and easy way to earn four bonus Rapid Rewards credits this holiday season towards your next free flight*? Book travel for $500 or more in advertised fare (not including Segment Fee, Facility Charge, or Security Fee) by December 31, 2009, and you can do just that!

They don't need proofreaders, they need to have FT vetting.

I received an almost identical email.

My offer is two credits for $250 in spending. And the the end of my email is tagged with FGB12 where yours has FGB11.

Then again, maybe they mean the RR credits can be used for your spring or summer vacation.

Oh, those marketing guys and their purple prose...:p

That's how I read it, also...that you would earn 4 bonus credits during November/December, which could then be used on a spring or summer vacation.

I also received the 4 credits for $500 offer. Unfortunately, I've already booked all of the travel I'm going to be doing between now and the end of the year - none of it on Southwest as their fares were not competitive on the routes I was flying.

I'm not sure why I was targeted for the promo, although if I had to guess, I'd say it's because I used to fly Southwest with some regularity (1-2 times per month) but have not since April.

Our granddaughter has not flown SWA since April

Trips booked wth vouchers appear to count. I'm sitting on $700+ of vouchers.

Daughter who hasn't flown SWA in a long time, then just one flight very recently and who has no plans to fly again for a couple years, got the $500 offer. Neither wife nor I got anything.

The dates of this offer are such that it likely wouldn't have worked for us anyway. We booked all our November/December travel a long time ago in order to get the best WGA fares we could, or to grab Standard Award seats before they all disappeared.

I know this offer was extended only today - so my apologies if I'm jumping the gun. My daughter, who almost never travels, received the "4 credits for flying $500 worth of travel by year-end" offer. But as a companion pass owning A-lister I got zip. I understand trying to get people to try WN, but a basic rule of marketing is to take care of your good customers. Given infrequent customers a much better deal (1/4 of a free ticket) over good customers (with other travel options) is annoying and bad business. Let's take this to it's logical extreme per the WN marketing dept:

"FREE A-LIST MEMBERSHIP! Offer open to those who have flown fewer than 4 flights last year"

or maybe board flights in inverse relationship to flights flown.

When it comes to treating loyal customers like dirt in the promotions department, "it's on". :td:

The point is to share information, and compare offers received. Information is power.

Ditto here. I just noticed that only my wife got the offer. She always flies with me, either on fares that I buy or (more recently) on companion fares. Only once for a particular promo did I log in as her & buy a ticket last spring.

They should save their bandwidth. She won't be buying any tickets.

Any ideas if using the recent 15% discount code will disqualify a flight from this offer?

I fly with WN twice a week for over the past year. I am a CP and did not receive this offer.

That is why you did not receive this offer. It was designed to bring back people that have not traveled in quite a while. Both my wife and I traveled on the same trip as the granddaughter, and we are on SWA every 4-6 weeks. Neither of us got this offer.
