Hi,

I wish to fly AAR-CPH-GVA on March 15 on the 0905 CPH -GVA flight.

In terms of connection from AAR-CPH, I have the choice of SK flights leaving at 0630 and 0730.

Unfortunately the 0730 is very expensive at this point in comparison to the 0630 (GBP101 more) hence I think I am going to take the 630... Looking at the bus timetables in the coming month, the earliest airport bus is scheduled to get into AAR only 30 mins before the flight, therefore I dont think I will arrive in time to check in my baggage? Can anyone confirm this, or is there some unwritten rule that checkin will remain open until the bus arrives (unlikely)?

I could always book the 730 AM flight on a seperate Youth ticket, but I dont want to risk missing the rest of my itinerary... I presume theres no way of booking a youth ticket on an international itinerary?

While I've never been to AAR myself, I've been to plenty of small airports (which AAR is) in many places and usually they are very effective and the bus schedules are synchronized with the flight times.

I'd say you'll be fine, just do OLCI beforehand - they might even have a bag drop counter for you to cut down on the waiting time.

Just in case write the AAR airport number (preferably the direct SAS station number) down somewhere so if the bus happens to get delayed for some reason you could give them a call advising about the situation.

No need to worry. AAR is a very small airport, and the AAR bus schedule is carefully aligned with the flights. My best AAR time (without luggage) is 3 mins. from curbside to airplane seat.

Arriving 30 min before departure your only worry will be how to kill the remaining 20 mins. after checkin ;-)

This is spot on. I have taken the bus many, many times. Never had a problem - I can't recall any delays. AAR is very small - even if the bus would be delayed check-in will wait for the bus and remain open. As already stated the bus schedule is tailored to the flights out of AAR. No worry. Ask the check-in agent to tag your bag all the way to GVA.

The bus will leave the central station down town Aarhus minus 1h20min before your flight, i.e. either 05.10 or 06.10 :o

I would go for a youth ticket on SK 1242 at 07.30. The departure of this flight is never delayed as the aircraft arrives the previous evening from CPH. You have plenty of time in CPH to connect, so 2 separate tickets are fine. I do that all the time- no problems.

Thanks for all the replies, I would never dream of catching a bus due to arrive only 30mins beforehand in Belfast.. Nice and efficient!

If I book a seperate youth ticket, do you think the check in agent would tag all the way through for me? If they dont and I book the 730, then it only leaves 20 mins to collect bags, walk from CPH T1 to T3 and check in my bags - not going to happen!

I've only flown out of AAR once so far since I moved here, on last minute J tickets, and SK decided that it should be these bags which were marked "priority" that should have been delayed due to space restrictions.... People in the same group with restricted fares managed to receive their bags though

Until recently SK AAR refused to tag bags to final dest. when on separate tickets. This has changed - there should be no problems. If you want to be on the safe side book the 06.30 flight (and wake up one hour earlier)

thanks for your help.. I've decided to go with the 0630 flight as the price went up when I started splitting up the booking, and I anticipate thats theres a better chance of my bags making it through on the 2 hr connection..

On a similar note, does anyone know where the BLL airport bus service leaves from Aarhus? It doesnt seem to be advertised on rejseplanen and on I cant find any detailed information on bll.dk. I am punishing myself with FR on Friday!

One leaves from in front of the SAS hotel.

But according to BLL's homepage there is also one leaving from the central station.

Good luck with FR on Friday - poor you. ;)
