For what it's worth, $47+ per segment isn't a particularly great segment run. That is pretty widely available with UA given their willingness to add unnecessary connections over outstations. In fact, on the very same date you mention, ORD-PIT-IAD-ABE-ORD is availabe at $175 all-in, ORD-PIT-IAD-LGA-ORD is available for $184 all-in, ORD-ORF-IAD-RDU-ORD is available for $184, and on and on. If you wait a day, many of these trips are actually $20+ cheaper on Sunday Nov. 22 out of ORD (like ORD-ORF-IAD-PIT-ORD at $166). You can also frequently find 6 segments for this price (say a routing like ORD-PIT-IAD-RDU-IAD-ABE-ORD) with further advance purchase. sipes23 Nov 5, 09, 2:31 pm I'm not certain, but I'd be willing to bet that this itinerary is ORD > PIT > ORD that hits IAD and DTW on the return. For whatever reason, PIT is easy to load up on segments when flying out of ORD. gof Nov 5, 09, 6:29 pm I've got a collegue who has been trying to run up segments out of ORD. I'm all ears if someone has more suggestions that are even cheaper (I think he needs 4 more segments during the double promo). 1wfudeac Nov 6, 09, 10:03 am I don't know if it is still available through end of the year, but I am routing ORD-DEN-PHX-SFO-BUR-SFO-SLC-DEN-ORD. I had to book it as two one ways on Orbitz. Total cost was $245 ($30/seg before DEQS). I am flying Saturday 11/7 and returning Sunday 11/8. sipes23 Nov 6, 09, 10:48 am (I think he needs 4 more segments during the double promo). I think I'd go to MKE if I were that close. MKE-ORD-IND-ORD-MKE can be had on a same day turn for $138 on 5 Dec. Not the greatest price or times, but doesn't require any time off work either. WIRunner Nov 7, 09, 3:53 pm MKE-ORD-MSP is running $128.90 ai. (Sample dates 11/21, 12/5) The only "bummer" part is the longish afternoon layover at ORD. The upside is that you can get a 5 hour layover at MSP and take the train to the Mall of America for some afternoon shopping. |
