Somebody on Flyertalk mentioned to me when I enquired about an AA redemption on QF metal that I can use either AA redemption points or One World points.
Will somebody please explain this mystery to me and where can I get a redemption table?

There are no such things as Oneworld points.
However, AA has two types of rewards - "All-Airline Awards" and "oneworld Awards", as explained here: http://www.aa.com/pubcontent/en_US/AAdvantage/partners/airlines/All_Airline_Award_Chart.jsp
And this is clearly a question that should be taken up in the AA forum.

If I was under the impression it involved One World - it is termed a One World reward - should it not be asked on the One World forum?

No - see the announcement at the head of this forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/oneworld/oneworld-award-rules-247.html
Qantas Frequent Flyer have their own version of a "onewolrd Award".
It requires travel on at least two carriers other than Qantas on a round/circle trip basis up to 35,000 miles. (5 stopoovers maximum)

Yes it involves OW but the rules behind it are governed by the frequent flyer program of your choice. So a OW award on AA is different to one on CX. This is why it belongs to the specific forum and not into OW.
