Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Any HON Events?
i was invited back in 2006 or 2007 if memory serves me right. was a great weekend and a nice gesture as it included spouses. I havent been contacted ever since and havent heard of anything like this still happening.
so, has anyone attended any LH arranged HON Event lately?

I got an invitation this spring for a event somewhere in southern France, IIRC. But I couldn't join, like with most of these invitations in the past years. They always come late, when others plans for such weekends were already confirmed and arranged. :(

Just as a footnote from what I observed in this forum:
As most of you HONs made/make the same experience it can't be a coincidence. Obviously LH/M&M tries to offer events that only a few HONs can make use of anyway and hence they don't need to spend too much money.

well, my experience was one invitation in year 1 during my first 2 year period. nothing however ever since. and i was curious if these weekend things had been abandoned altogether or what the rationale was behind the selection of participants. in other words, there was no opportunity to NOT attend, as i wasnt invited.
(except for winning two tickets for a bayern match, which i didnt attend....since they arrived the day of the match :-) )

Mai '09 in Milan - great event :) (and my first and only invitation in 4 years to anything :()
Everything they send by postal mail is mostly pointless since the times I am home are actually quite small. Go figure, a HON spents at minimum 300k miles per year on a plane. Invitation by email would be nice. But hey it is my first year anyway.

No, a HON collects 300K HON miles per year on average, could be done with much less miles flown. :o
even though i sometimes rather flew 300k than "just" collect them...would mean more relaxed longhaul than crazy short-hopping back and forth....
anyways, do you guys think there is a certain pattern for these events and corresponding invitations (i.e. once per 2 year status) or is it purely random?

Even in longhaul it is just ~133K miles flown in C/D/Z/J to get 300K credited. In F/A you would only need ~92K miles flown to get the 300K.
And collecting 2,5K miles for 180 miles flown during crazy shorthaul hopping is not bad either. With barely 22K miles flown (120 segments) you will collect 300K miles.

while i cant be bothered to verify your numbers (i simply accept them as being accurate), my point was not so much the distance covered but the "relative joy" of hopping from STR/NUE via FRA/ZRH to WAW and places.....as opposed to snoring away in a fat chair after a bottle of champagne on your way to LAX or so...;)

the only way to get the 300K per annum without flying too much is to do 7 to 10 intercontinental trips per year in F.
A fares out of MXP on LX are prettyn good.

Same here. Great weekend in Paris, and it sure motivated me to requalify, even spending some extra money to reach the threshold. No invitations ever since though.

I got nothing in Switzerland from LX since a lame Locarno Film Festival invitation in August 2008 :td:
Given the demographics of the last previous HON event I went to I'll only again if some other FTer is going to join the same one :)

Lots of boring people who fit the stereotype profile of HON ?
In Montreal we had no HON events for many many years. It looks like LH dropped us from their list for ever.
However, 2 years ago I got invited to an event in FLORIDA but I did not attend due to the length of the flight from YUL to MIA just to spend 3 hours to 4 hours in the event and then back the next day.

Maybe there are not very many HONs around in Montreal.

Also there is no LH flight to YUL almost 6 months of the year as YUL-MUC flight operates only from APR to end of OCT. So I stick to LX most of the time for my travel plans.

I disagree. I am a HON in my forties and still fun to hang out with :)

Thanks god I work in a different sector ;)
Maybe we can use our LH contact to set up a HON event just for FT/VFT HONs. We should be almost able to meet the threshold for the HON events :)

agewise or attitude wise....?:D
good idea though. i like it!

Well, both are different but attitude is more of an issue than age - there are interesting people of all ages after all.

yep, the range between 18 and 25 being the most interesting one... :D

I would not describe myself as your typical monday morning London Hon, nor do I fit Sentom's description - but let me respond anyway ;-)
I have received an invite in September for an event in Istanbul in October. By the time I hadresponded, the event was fully booked. The only thing they said is that I would get invited again if there happened to be a next event....

This is exactly the problem. If you do not deliver on the offer you create disappointment.
