Hilton HHonors - Mixing Reward Nights and Paid Nights?

I tried doing a search, but didn't find anything that I thought would be relevant.

I am currently thinking about staying two nights at London area Hilton property. The first night I was thinking about doing as a reward night. The second night would be a paid night.

The question is, since the paid night is the second night, would I still earn points and a stay credit? (my logic is that the second night would be a sequential night for the same "stay" so no stay credit (point credit only)).

Whereas if the first night is a paid night, I'd get the stay credit.

Can you tell that I'm trying to re-qualify based on number of stays? Not to mention the 4 stays 25,000 points promotion. :D

T & C's state that award nights count as a stay. But if you have an award followed by a paid night it will still only count as one stay since the 2 nights are consecutive. But you would get points for the price for the second night.
