was just checking on my flight this Friday LHR-SIN on the 380.. noticed that inventory in business and economy have all been zeroed out.. I guess the flight is pretty full.. I'm going to guess the chances are for op-up to suites from business is pretty low knowing SQ.. but I'm curious if it has happened to others before?

Earlier this week I was flying SIN-LHR on the 77W and I wasn't 100% sure of the flight time so I checked online and the flight didn't show up when I had economy selected so I put in F. Anyhow I asked in TPR about the load and was told 4 in F. I had also asked the day earlier about the load when I was requesting BTC in the SKL and was told 4 in F. I was in 2A and by the time I boarded I was the the 4th passenger. I was about to ask the FA to see if they could put the open seat next to me in the bed position so I wouldn't need to disturb them. Well eventually F filled up 8/8. While I'm not sure the other 4 bought last minute tickets, there is a chance SQ had to op-up.

Another first on this flight was when I woke up and went to the galley there was no one there. Never have seen this on SQ. Possibly they needed help in the back.

3 weeks ago I flew SQ 77W in F and all 8 seats were taken.
I came back on a TG 744 also in F and all seats were also taken. Business also looked full on these flights too:confused:

SQ will rather leave you behind or put you on another airline than upgrade you to R.

:D said so bluntly I thought it had come straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.

But had the F class passengers on these flights actually paid a proper F class fare ?

Upgrade from J to F on the 77W is not impossible. I have had it several times. I have even been moved from J to F after taking my seat in J. Upgdrade on the A380 from J to R is a totally different thing and I only ever heard of one person who claimed they were upgraded but it sounded a bit dubious to me.

SQ regularly op-ups on 77W for both Eco to Biz and Biz to F.

It is SQ's policy though not to op-up from Biz to Suites on A380. If it ever happended, it would be a very rare exception.

Second that!

That is at least what I know SQ would do ex-SIN. From other cities, SQ may be a little bit more flexible and reasonable.

And it would help if you're SQ PPS Solitaire and above. *A/Gold members need not get their hopes up.

I was on a UA J award on SQ SIN SYD on the 747 in Jan 09. Had just taken my J seat on the UD when the FA came up with a "new" seat and hand written BP for me :D. 3D in F ^. I was only *S at the time. It was a very nice surprise. So never say never ;) !!

My teen daughter's friend tells a story of her and her brother being upgraded to the Suites from J, but apparently their father is quite high up status wise on SQ.

And pay the EU involuntary denied boarding compensation as well?

And pay the EU involuntary denied boarding compensation as well?

In the case of SQ that would apply only on flights departing the EU.

Note that only EU-based carriers are obliged to pay EU passenger compensation for flights departing and destined for the EU.

nope
ALL flights ex-EU and to-EU are regulated by the EU law...

This Regulation shall apply:
(a) to passengers departing from an airport located in the territory of a Member State to which the Treaty applies;
(b) to passengers departing from an airport located in a third country to an airport situated in the territory of a Member State to which the Treaty applies, unless they received benefits or compensation and were given assistance in that third country, if the operating air carrier of the flight concerned is a Community carrier.

Read your own quote. Flights from outside the EU to the EU are only governed if the carrier is an EU carrier.
