Hello Everyone,

A few friends and I (two gays guys, one straight guy, two straight girls) are planning to spend this weekend in Richmond just for the hell of it. We're hoping to spend two nights on bar/club hopping and I need some suggestions.

I'm originally from Richmond, but since I moved away for college, I don't know much about the bar scene. Generally we do one night at the gay bars and one night at the straight bars when we meet up; we are all professional twenty-somethings. As far as gay bars, I've only ever heard of Barcode and Godfrey's but haven't been to either. For straight bars, I've heard of a the Capital City Ale House and Richbrau but both sound like more restaurants than anything else.

Any recommendations for fun places would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A bit late to help you, but Capital City Ale House is more of a brewpub than a bar/club. The beer selection is excellent, and they have some great happy hour specials. The patio at Legends Brewery on the south side is also great, but likewise is not a bar/club. (Richbrau's is closed, AFAIK.)

I recommend reading through Style Weekly (http://www.styleweekly.com) to see what events are going on at what clubs in the area.

The Slip and the Bottom are still the places to go, though I understand there are some decent places off of Broad by VCU.
