A recent thread is lamenting the change by QF in the use of the R class designator to become Y+ seating rather than super-first.

A couple of things come to mind. A removal of T class as Y+ was mentioned... This may have very adverse effects for those flying on LONEx fares. Anyone really know?

Also it appears that AA will not credit miles for R class fares. Is this a repeat of the situation when Y+ was introduced where only QF frequent flyers got miles for flying in Y+ (for a considerable period of time)

Looking at the AA website this morning, it appears R fares have now been included as "Premium Economy" and paid out at 110% miles and 150% points.

This is quite amazing given how long it took them in the past. Almost appears AA and QF "worked together" on this one from the start!

BA are still showing R as crediting as First on their website.

Wonder if there's an opportunity for some Exec Club members to do some tests..

It's great to take advantage of these small issues. For years I used to travel from LHR to MAN on a full fare ticket (which booked into J, even though it was economy) and received full business class tier points on QF.

Cathay are also now properly recognising R class and ensuring the correct remuneration.

Just about on every flight I have looked at R is zero, yet T can still be easily 9.

What gives? A lot of the R fares replaced T fares.
