Hi all...new to AS this year after being status matched to MVP. Coming up a bit short so looking at possible mileage runs before end of year.

May I ask how many Elite Qualifying Miles I receive for a SNA-PDX-SEA flight? I guess the main question is do I get 500 miles for the PDX-SEA segment on top of the 860 miles SNA-PDX?

Thanks in advance for the replies...

Mark

I believe the answer is yes...I'll let one of the others here answer it more definitively. From what I see, by doing a dummy booking on AS.com, it would be the 860+500 = 1360 (base miles) + 680 (50% MVP Bonus --- These are not EQM's though) = 2040.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though...

wsucougarchick... the EQMS are 1360, the RDMS are 2040 as an MVP.

yes you earn the miles per segment. So its 860 plus 500. HOWEVER there is an exception to this. If the flight number was the same like a 1 stop service it would be the the actual total miles. Not sure if they pull that stunt down there much but they do it up here all the time especially summtertime ie. FAI-LAX direct flight service*

Yeah, I caught that part after I posted and then went in and corrected it.

I have had different experiences with this on Alaska compared to other airlines. With Alaska, they have always given me the total miles the plane actually flew. Eg. SEA-GST one stop service yields 909 miles SEA-JNU, and 41 JNU-GST. I have flown NW LAX-IND with a stop in MSP and they just give the actual LAX-IND mileage.

I'm in a situation similar to OP. I'll be very close to MVPG by the end of the year. But, I'll go over the threshhold depending on how they award EQMs on partner airlines.
My recent experience: On AA, EQMs are actual miles flown. So, for ORD-DTW, I only got 334 qualifying miles.
On NW, minimum miles is automatically 500, and they award 500 EQMs also.

Now, what are they going to do on DL???
I have a series of short flights on DL, and if they give 500 EQMs/flight, I'm gold. If they give actual flight miles as EQMs, I'll be short.

Anyone with experience how the DL flight miles will post???

Based on a review of my account. Delta short hops count as 500 EQMs

Sorry to hear that about AA, I thought perhaps we got the 500 for being reciprocal EQM partners?

I tried to find the official Mileage Plan regulations pertaining to earning EQMs, and can't seem to find anything specific about earning (minimum vs actual flown) EQMs on partner flights.

If we're supposed to get 500 min. EQMs for all partners, that would be really sweet ^.

Anyone with info about this???

I think its basically whatever the partner decides... AS could apply pressure... but might not work...

FWIW... I had a AS coded AA operated flight in January that posted as the 500 mininum...

Was that before or after Jan 19th? I might book a plane ticket to SMF soon for a meeting and I might fly from LAX-SJC on AS operated by AE and then connect on QX to SMF.

Hopefully, the 500 miles minimum will still apply since the ticket will be booked as an AS flight number, not AA.

DL has been fine... its AA that FT'ers have been having issues with...
