Qantas Frequent Flyer - New domestic A330-200 will have IFE!

The next A330-200 due by the end of the month will come equipped with the new Panasonic IFE system with over 300 options and new J class seats

The aircraft is configured 36J/265Y

The aircraft will be used mainly on Perth flights from Sydney and Melbourne and the 2nd aircraft is due in February 2010

New J seats ?

I hazard a guess the 'new' J seats will be similar to, if not the same as those in the new 73H's.

Note 36 seats - this implies 6 rows of 2x2x2 ... unlike the recently reconfigured 332s to 2x3x2 ...

Current domestic 38J A332 VH-EBK will leave the fleet bound for JQ in the next few weeks, VH-EBJ will remain.

I assume the sole 38J domestic VH-EBJ will be upgraded with the new seats/IFE to match the 2 new domestic A332s arriving soon?

I'd doubt that QF will retrofit an aircraft with AVOD in the current environment. This is very costly for basically no return.

Great news that they'll feature on the Perth routes, I just wish I knew how to work out which 332s were (i) international config and (ii) new domestic config, preferably more than a day or so from departure. If anyone has any secrets I'd love to hear them.

I guess OLCI is your main public hope.

Check the seat maps. Both J and WHY are configured differently for international when compared with Domestic.

or will it eventually go the way of EBK - much easier to fit AVOD into new planes and push the others to JQ.

Given EBMhas AVOD does this mean it is likely to stay as part of the QF fleet even when the Dreamliners finally arrive
