Am currently on Jet Airways Jet Privilege program and need to do another 6 flights before the 1st week of Jan 2010 in order to make to the next tier

To make the plot interesting have a run to do MAA – SIN – MAA, but need all the baggage allowance I can get my hands on and with a little working of the phones managed about 40kgs on SQ. Only hassle being SQ is not a partner airline with Jet and hence if I take this would earn NO miles.

No first class on the MAA – SIN – MAA sector with jet and hence eligible for a maximum of 30 kgs only on Jet. (by either booking a biz class ticket or using an upgrade voucher)

Any ideas on how one could tackle the dual issues of maximum baggage allowance and mile earning in one go…??

What's the total luggage weight you're looking to carry? Jet will allow you 35 kgs for SE Asia travel, plus 10 kgs for being JP Silver (15 kgs for JP Gold). I see that you're Silver, so that makes it 45 kgs to start with. They normally don't bother too much about a couple of extra kgs, if that helps. Here's reference for you: http://www.jetairways.com/EN/US/PlanYourTravel/BaggageAllowance.aspx, check under the section called "South East Asia & South Asian Sub continent"

Hope that helps as far as baggage is concerned.

HI Aniruddh and thanks for replying back to my post. Little mess up. I’m on the blue plus tier and NOT the silver tier and hence am offered only 20 + 10 = 30 kgs in all. The + 10 being the extra allotted being in the blue plus class…

40 kgs worth of an allowance would be most convenient for me as i'm hauling back a drum set from SIN ( yeah...borderline mad idea..!!! )

Jet were quite severe at check in a few weeks back and i ended up paying about 150 $ for exccess baggage...
