Have done a search and found some info on GE partner recognition, but these are a bit old and wanted some clarification on current recognition.

I have recently been made a GE partner but will be taking a number of flights before I receive the card (most probably). Can I still access the lounge by virtue of my BP still saying *G or will I need to show my card to gain access? I notice that I have been given the ability to select Space+ seats via myairnz, but there is nothing to indicated GE partner status on my myairnz.

I have never been asked to show the card when accessing any NZ operated lounges so as long as your BP shows your *G status you should be fine. And I understand in NZ's system and passenger manifest your status is simply *GE so expect some VIP treatment on long haul flights.

NZ stopped showing GE partner status online but if you are still receiving paper statement you will see a GEP note next to your joining date.

Great. Thanks for the confirmation Xiaotung.

A reminder this only applies to NZ operated flights.

GE partner is not *G.
